Dave Howe, Real Solutions’ founder, has a long, successful history of designing and implementing ERP solutions, specifically Microsoft Dynamics-NAV (formerly Navision) solutions. In early 1990, he began a software implementation project at a German division of a Chicago-based international manufacturing and distribution company. The product selected was Navision. Navision, which was then owned by Peachtree and ADP, was not even available in the United States at this time.
After his experience with Navision in Europe, Mr. Howe felt that Navision was a truly unique software system. He strongly believed the product would adapt well to American businesses and he wanted to help others implement the system. Mr. Howe partnered with Computer Counselors, Inc. at the time, to establish a Chicago-based Navision consulting firm. That firm was called Computer Counselors of Chicago, Inc. (CCCI). CCCI was extremely successful winning many national awards including the “Million Dollar Sales Club” award for exceeding one million dollars in Navision sales. Within two years, CCCI became one of the largest Navision dealers in the country. Mr. Howe eventually became the sole partner and continued to build the company with over fifty successful implementations.
In early 2000, controlling interest of CCCI was sold to Aston Group in an attempt to build an international practice and eventually take the organization public. In 2001, Microsoft, after acquiring Great Plains, further entrenched themselves in the ERP market, by purchasing the Navision software products, Navision Attain and Navision Axapta. However, software sales and support organizations, in general, were entering a tough market over the next four years.
In late 2004, Mr. Howe decided to start a new organization, Real Solutions, headquartered in Chicago, to deliver unparalleled customer service implementing Navision projects. Already a second office in Tampa Bay has recently been opened with plans to expand into other regional areas in the future. Real Solutions already has one of the largest Navision teams in the Chicago-land area and has amassed over 30 clients in the first 18 months of operation. Many of the same employees and customers are still with him today from the early days. He continues to build this new company under a new structure, but staying true to the success story outlined years ago.
